Volkswagen, otherwise known as VW emerged in 1937 founded by the German Labour Front. Post war the company saw many changes with some iconic cars being produced including the VW Beetle and classic Golf. By 2016 Volkswagen was the largest vehicle manufacturer by sales in the world.
The VW Caddy was introduced in 1980 and came about when VW were experimenting with variations of the Golf to an estate and a pickup. The original Caddy pickup moved to a more practical panel van in 1995 to become today’s mobile workplace for tradespeople and businesses. The first generation VW Caddy Pickup (Typ 14; 1979–1996) was also known as the Volkswagen Golf Mk1 Caddy and came to Europe from America in 1982. Next came the Volkswagen Polo Caddy which was a light van (Typ 9K; 1995–2004). Third generation VW Caddy (Typ 2K; 2003–present) shares 50% of its modules with the Volkswagen Golf Mk5 and Volkswagen Touran.
